1981: The first music video shown on MTV was The Buggles 'Video Killed the Radio Star'
1983: Michael Jackson - ThrillerThe 13 minute video enjoyed its worldwide premiere on MTV on December 2nd 1983. It was played every hour on MTV, its a narrative music video.
1986: Peter Gabriel's - Sledgehammer. Created a stop motion animation music video.
2008: Beyonce and two dancers - Single Ladies.The dance video was awarded video of the year in 2009.
2013: Pharrell Williams - Happy. First 24hr music video. Sound track for the film 'Despicable Me'. Happy" was the most successful song of 2014, with 13.9 million units (sales plus equivalent streams) worldwide.
2010-15: Interactive music videos were introduced. An interactive music video gives the viewer the opportunity to interact with the video content itself through a variety of tools. Users can click, drag, scroll and complete other digital actions to interact with the video’s content, similar to the way they’d interact with web content.
